“Being a target region of the project with the Swedish public employment service gave us an opportunity to witness and learn the effective work with the labour migrants and we can also say we already have tangible results and achievements”, the head of the Gyumri local employment center Amalya Adamyan says while sharing her impressions about the center’s one year involvement in the iMigrantArmenia.EU project.
The EU-funded iMigrantArmenia project is implemented by the Swedish public employment agency, and includes target regions such as Shirak and Aragatsotn, where the project involvement is already showing results. “We have been cooperating with Sweden for around 20 years now. We learned a lot in terms of employment policy implementation. From this perspective the cooperation with this country is very important to us, as we are already familiar with the attitude of the Swedish government and Employment agency towards the job market, unemployed people, as well as the country’s economic development outcomes and the benefits that this cooperation will bring us. This includes communities and labour migrants from the regions who are interested in getting involved in the project and have the belief that in today’s new and developing socio-economic reality they can establish and run their own business and produce outcomes.”
Basing on good outcomes, Ms Adamyan also underlined the importance of the continuation of the project as it is coming to a close. “People from the communities, labour migrants who heard about the opportunity that the project is giving have already been sending us their applications. And this interest gives us an opportunity to evaluate the success of this project.” The project will run until mid-September.
In the end, Ms Adamyan also stressed the importance of the capacity building activities conducted in the regions; the study visit, which gave an opportunity to learn and exchange experience with the public employment sphere organisations at the Republic of Moldova and the thought of bringing their experience of online job fair to Armenia; as well as the presence of international experts, that gives an opportunity of learning from the Swedish experience. As one of the most important outcomes of the project, the head of the Gyumri local employment center also mentioned the CDIS IT platform, which gives an opportunity to connect the investors with the people who have the business idea and are looking for investments in Armenia.
